The versatility of a square silk scarf.

As an essential element of a woman’s wardrobe, alongside the obligatory little black dress, crisp white cotton shirt, perfectly fitting denim jeans, and trusty blazer, a silk scarf is as versatile as it gets. We’re not talking polyester, either. We’re talking about a quality, 100 pure silk scarf in twill or satin, that will not require replacing every season.

If you’re wondering how a silk scarf is so versatile, then think of it, essentially, as a square piece of fabric. It can be rolled, folded, twisted, tied. It is a scarf, but it could also be a hair accessory, a head scarf, a halter neck top, a bra-let if you’re feeling daring, or something to jazz up your tote or waistband.

Whether you plan to soak up the sun all day long, take in some culture on a weekend trip, or you’ll be mixing business with pleasure on a city break, here are a few suggestions for wearing your new silk scarf with some of Spring Summer 26 season’s key looks.

We love this beautiful macramé gown by Ellie Saab (image www.mytheresa.com) and we can imagine it would be perfect while browsing a market in Valencia. For a summer’s morning, keep it cool by simply tying The Poppy silk scarf around your ponytail and adding these textural platform sandals from Prada, (image www.prada.com), and this cute blue tote from Anya Hindmarch (www.anyahindmarch.com).

The playful pattern on Fuchsia silk scarf means it can be played up or down. You’ll certainly be noticed walking the Barcelona passeo in these Valentino Supergran Plusdepois flared pants (image www.mytheresa.com) teamed with a matching top, and Fuchsia as a head scarf. Add these absolutely gorgeous Fuchsia Pink Hibiscus Flower Earrings by Milou Jewelry (www.wolfandbadger.com).

Our Paint it Red silk twill scarf and an understated dark neutral is the perfect pairing for strolling the Parisian old town. Use Paint it Red silk scarf as a traditional neck scarf with this relaxed Rosa Halter Linen Midi Dress in navy from Boden, (image www.boden.com), or with straight leg trousers and vest teamed with these Birkenstocks from &OtherStories, and a canvas tote.

Summer business trips don’t have to be all hard work. Have a little fun and add Elephant Tooth silk scarf tied around the collar to this Dior monochrome houndstooth jacket, flared mini skirt and Mini Lady D-Joy bag. The scarf’s crimson, cerise and tangerine colour palette will catch the light of the sequins in the jacket detail, while the elephant pattern will emulate the houndstooth. (image www.dior.com)

Alternatively, simply tie around your hand bag to add a pop of colour.
